Deformation characteristics at strains from less than 0.001% to about 0.01% of a compacted well-graded gravel were evaluated by measuring locally axial and radial strains in very small amplitude cyclic triaxial tests on cylinder specimens. Effects of density, loading speed, strain amplitude, stress conditions on deformation characteristics (Young's modulus and Poisson's ratio) at very small to small strain levels are summarized.
