"HERAS", Hazards Estimation and Restoration Aid System, developed by RTRI, automatically estimates the damage grade of each point based on inputted earthquake elements. When combined with "UrEDAS", Urgent Earthquake Detection and Alarm System, developed by RTRI, it provides the quickest and most accurate restoration aid. As input of earthquake elements to HERAS from a keyboard is possible, weak points against an optional hypothetical earthquake can easily be selected. Then, this system is useful for repair and reinforcement of structures before a disastrous event occurs. There are two types of HERAS for different hazard estimation methods. This paper explains the difference between the two methods and introduces the results of application to real earthquake damage.
