To evaluate the performance of floating type and mortal type ladder tracks, their mechanical properties and dynamic response characteristics were measured by running three electric cars at 20 to 50 km/h on a test line of Railway Technical Research Institute. The running performance on the floating ladder track was analyzed using a dynamic interaction analysis program DIASTARS. Through this study, it has been clarified that floating ladder tracks feature (1) very good ride comfort, (2) high running safety and (3) satisfactory performance as a low-maintenance and low-noise track.
