Investigation of Passenger Casualties in a Train Collision

Researches were conducted to gather information to minimize the risk of injury to passengers and train crew at accidents, and the following have been found through a questionnaire survey on train collisions. (1) Passengers in cross-seat type commuter trains were subjected to whiplash injury to larger extents than those in long-seat type suburban trains. (2) Passengers on suburban trains, those seat facing forward in particular, are subjected to injury at train accidents.
