In recent years, several serious disasters caused by rock slope collapses and rock falls along railways and roads happened. Therefore, research and development aiming at preventing these disasters have been pushed further in the organizations concerned. In this paper, I describe present technical conditions on the stability evaluation of rock slopes and countermeasures for rock slope disasters including the studies of Railway Technical Research Institute (RTRI).
