Estimation of the Damage Level of RC Members

Hisashi TANAKA, Masayuki TAKIGUCHI, Tsutomu SATO

Damage levels of Reinforced Concrete (RC) member are estimated by considering its characteristics and difficulty of repair. In this paper, the damage to verify the ductile performance is divided into four levels by considering the load-displacement characteristics and the damage of RC member obtained through a horizontal cyclic loading test of RC columns under an axial load. The limit of the damage level 1 is the yield point of the member. The limit of the damage level 2 is the maximum deformation point where the approximate maximum strength is not decreased by cyclic loads. The limit of the damage level 3 is the point where the strength decreases to the yield strength. The damage level 4 is the point where deformation exceeds the limit of the damage level 4.
