To design steel structures more reasonably, it is necessary to appropriately evaluate the seismic resistance capacity of steel members. In this study, cyclic loading tests of steel column members were carried out, and the load carrying capacity and ductility of steel members were investigated by using experiment results. In addition, a hysteresis model of steel members was investigated. Based on the study results, we introduced an accurate evaluating method for the load carrying capacity and ductility of steel members. We have verified that it is possible to appropriately evaluate the hysteresis model of steel members with a standard bi-linear hysteresis model and standard tri-linear hysteresis model.
