New Control Method of On-board ATC System

Noriko FUKUDA, Tomoki WATANABE

We studied the control method of on-board ATC system of Shinkansen to cut the operation time and reduce the adverse effects of changes in deceleration on the ride comfort, while maintaining the safety and reliability of the present ATC signal system. We simulated three train controls, (1) the present ATC brake control, (2) on-board pattern brake control based on the present ATC data, and (3) one-stage brake control, for trains approaching the Hakata terminal station. When compared with the operation time in the system refered to in (1), we succeeded in cutting the time by 47.6 seconds in (2) and by 75.0 seconds in (3), after brake is applied until the train stops at the terminal.
