Analysis of Interior Noise Source on Railway Vehicle

Hideki MINAMI, Katsunori AKUTSU, Liu YAN

This paper describes analysis results of interior noise sources on railway vehicles performed by three methods. The first method is a correlation rate analysis of interior noise and noise sources. The second method is to detect the direction of interior noise source with a number of sound intensity microphones. These analyses clarified the characteristics of interior noise, aerodynamic noise from the car body and driving device noise. Each noise source contributes to the interior noise to the same degree. The aerodynamic noise propagates into the interior of the car body from its upper structure, while the rolling noise from the lower structure. The third method is to detect transmission paths from noise sources to interior noise by the method of the impact excitation. This analysis clarified that driving device noise is transmitted through the traction device itself.
