Applications of Control Techniques on Improvement of Riding Quality

  Control techniques have great possibilities to improve the ride quality of vehicles. This paper shows an overview of the applications of control techniques for comfortable riding. First, the meaning of riding comfort in a narrow sense and its assessment methods are explained. Second, an experimental multi-modal active suspension and a practical semi-active suspension system are illustrated as examples of vibration control system. Lastly, the future of tilt control system in Japan is explained and fuzzy control tilting system is introduced.
