Various technologies have been developed to design and retrofit RC rigid frame viaduct columns through experiments of life-size specimens. As for RC piers, however, there are cases where technologies accumulated for RC rigid frame viaduct columns cannot apply, as RC rigid frame viaduct columns are different in the size of member and bar arrangement. To extract problems and study an effective retrofit method, seismic load tests were conducted on the steel jacketing retrofit. This paper introduces the effective seismic retrofit method for wall type piers and describes the ductility of retrofitted member.
