Recently, bridge restraint countermeasures are taken against earthquake for existing railway structures. But there are so many problems in establishing the bridge restrainers or reinforcing constructions related to bridge conditions. Then the authors devised a new type of down-sized bridge restrainer that has the ability to absorb seismic energy. In this study, about the effect of the establishment of the bridge restrainer was analytically verified, and the validity was confirmed based on the earthquake response analysis with a model of multi-span viaduct system.
