This article shows the outline of the papers registered in WCRR'99 (World Congress on Railway Research 1999). The congress was held on October 19^th to 23^rd, 1999, at the Railway Technical Research Institute and Hikari Plaza of Kokubunji City. The number of participants from 32 countries is 737 (359 Japansese and 378 foreigners). The papers were categorized into five topics (Customer Services, Train Control, Vehicles, Infrastructure and Environment) and presented in Oral Sessions (20 themes) or Poster Sessions (27 themes).
