To reduce the cost of railway vehicle maintenance, we have developed a bearing grease for conventional railway cars made of mineral oil and urea type thickener. Some tests proved that this grease withstands use of longer periods and is better than the conventional greases in terms of the load carrying capacity, wear resistance, mechanical stability and water resistance. The newly developed grease is expected to make the period of destructive inspection of axle bearing longer and decrease the kinds of grease used at vehicle maintenance and repair shops when used for both high and low axle load cars.
