Study of the Method of Measuring the Contact Force between Pantograph and Contact Wire

Mitsuru IKEDA, Takayuki USUDA

The present method to evaluate the contact force between pantograph and contact wire shows large errors in the high frequency range. It is because the evaluation of the inertia force of panhead is not precise when intense elastic vibration of panhead occurs. The authors propose an improved method to measure the contact force. This method evaluates the inertia force of panhead more precisely from the acceleration at plural points to consider the elastic vibration modes of panhead. The results of an excitation test of pantograph and a line test show that the contact force can correctly be evaluated by the method.
