Due to the development of information technology and popularization of Internet in recent years, an enormous volume of data has been accumulated in the marketing, transport, maintenance and other fields of railway industry. However, analysis or advanced utilization of the data hasn't been performed so far. This paper describes the study on the application of data mining technology to the analysis of passenger flow, rolling stock flow and maintenance/repair data now promoted at the Railway Technical Research Institute.
