The design of cut and cover tunnels using RC/steel underground diaphragm walls are prescribed in the new design standard (draft) based on the limit state design method. This report describes the design procedure of cut and cover tunnels using underground diaphragm walls as a permanent structure and a calculation method of ultimate strength of steel diaphragm walls. Authors applied the new design standard to make a trial design of an existing shaft designed by the allowable stress design method, and compared the difference between the two methods.
