We adopted an electric command control brake system that uses pneumatic brake and regenerative brake devices for a Gauge Changeable Test Train. It was designed based on the system of conventional EMU with improved hardware and software to add a new control function required for the Gauge Change Device. The foundation brake gears were developed to keep pace with the Gauge Changeable Truck and mounted on the test train after tested at the RTRI plant. This paper explains an outline of brake devices for the Gauge Changeable Train and the results of brake perfromance tests.
