Allowable Values of Riding Comfort on Curves

  In order to propose a new riding comfort index on curved sections, we reanalyzed the correlation between vibrational factors of railway vehicles and the subjective evaluation of passengers. In total, 293 subjects participated in the test. They took two different postures, seated and standing on the train. As a result of analysis, we showed that the combination of stationary lateral acceleration and peak-to-peak lateral acceleration makes it possible to prepare a more accurate index for evaluating the riding comfort. By using the combination of these variables, we developed a practical evaluation index and proposed the limits of discomfort and allowable to commercial vehicles.
