RTRI REPORT November 2000

Study toward a Motion Sickness Assessment with Physiological Indices

Chizuru NAKAGAWA, Hiroaki SUZUKI

To design a system free from motion sickness, it is required to grade the severity of motion sickness objectively, preferably with the score measured continuously without relying only on subjective judgments. One of the methods expected to be useful is to apply autonomic indices. This report explains the usefulness and limitations of autonomic indices applied to the assessment of motion sickness and introduces an example of the examination in which physiological indices are used to assess the degree of motion sickness.
