This paper discusses the quick inspection technique for earthquake-damaged railway bridges by applying vibration measurement and a new numerical model for nonlinear analysis of structures. The accuracy of the Applied Element Method (AEM) used in this study is verified by comparing with experimental results of the changes in the natural frequency of RC column due to experimental damage and also actual earthquake damage to an existing two-storied RC rigid frame viaduct. Next, the methodology to obtain the relation between the changes in the natural frequency and damage levels of real structures is discussed.
