Dynamic Analysis to Reflect the Effects of Slippage and Separation between Soil and Foundation

Masato SAITOH, Shiro TANAMURA

Many researchers have investigated characteristics of dynamic interaction concerning various soil-foundation-superstructure systems based on the three-dimensional wave propagation theory. These characteristics have been evaluated under the perfectly bounded condition between soil and foundation. When the systems are subjected to intense earthquakes, however, it has been known that slippage and separation occur between soil and foundation. Accordingly, the characteristics of dynamic interaction must change due to the changes in boundary conditions. This paper describes a new method to evaluate the above characteristics and shows some of the characteristics under the above boundary nonlinear conditions.
