In order to clarify the relationship between the deterioration and strength of reinforced concrete (RC) member, static bending tests and deterioration checks were carried out by using three RC beam specimens exposed to open air for 12 years. Test results are as follows. 1. The yield strength of tensile reinforcing bar decreases in proportion to the reduction of its weight. 2. The strength of RC beam specimens can be estimated by using the yield strength of the tensile reinforcing bar. 3. The ductility of RC beam specimens seems to be different from that of the control RC beam specimen with no deterioration.
