The floating track bed using coil springs reduces vibration of substructure and structure-borne sound. In this system, the concrete slab is supported by spring sets. A 20m long test track was constructed on the Rinkai line and a motor car running test was conducted. The result of this test shows that the floating track bed using coil springs reduces vibration by 7dB when compared with the ballasted track using a ballast mat. FEM and dynamic wheel load simulation analyses prove that the floating track bed using coil springs is safe for operation.
