Development of Wheel Profile for Independently Rotating Wheels

Eisaku SATO

Independently rotating wheels are positively being adopted in recent years. The merits of independently rotating wheels are that they can produce a space by removing axles and the running stability is high. This report shows dynamic characteristics of independently rotating wheels and describes a design concept of wheel profile for independently rotating wheels. This paper also shows the running test results of independently rotating wheel and conic wheel tread profiles.
