Maintenance of overhead contact line needs much human work and costs. Inspection cars are useful to diagnose the positions and conditions of contact lines. They are also effectively used to evaluate the performance of current collection. This paper briefly reviews the recent research and development on the inspection methods, device, and data processing system, and introduces measured items such as the contact force and contact loss of pantograph, wear of contact wire and application of video images.
