It is expected that the costs for development and maintenance of application system will be reduced and new businesses will emerge, if railway telecommunication network is constructed by the Internet technology. However, the specifications of Internet technology including Internet Protocol (IP), which is a basic protocol for exchanging data packets, are originally designed by assuming application to fixed network. This paper proposes a method to construct an IP-based network including trains and other mobile railway subnetworks, and show how to realize the network with the existing function provided by the Linux Operating System.
