Construction of hotels, condominiums and halls are planned at the wayside of railways in cities, for which vibration and noise must be avoided. When a train runs, vibration propagates from the track to the nearby ground and buildings, and also through building floors and ceilings to generate noise (structure-borne sound). We performed experiments to grasp the effect to isolate the vibration of foundation from that of the ground by using models near a commercial line. We also grasped the effect of ceiling vibration preventive work in the room of a structure under a viaduct.
