The running test of MLX01 superconducting Maglev vehicles on the Yamanashi Maglev Test Line has entered the fifth year. In March 2000, the Technical Evaluation Committee, Ministry of Transport, assessed that this Maglev system was technologically feasible as a super high-speed mass transit system, with an exception of a few issues, based on the test results over the past three years. The Committee also concluded that the vehicle running test should be continued for another five years to strive for technical completion. This paper reports the current status of the vehicle running test on the Yamanashi Maglev Test Line.
