Vehicle running tests have progressed smoothly on the Yamanashi Maglev Test Line since their start on April 1997. We need hereafter to perform long-term durability tests and develop ways to reduce costs to realize a commercial system. Now, we suggest replacement of the existing triplex feeding system with a novel duplex system which consists of two duplex systems, each having a problem. One problem is continual fluctuation of propulsion force and the other is open-close switching at switchgears under a load of current feeding. In this paper, we describe compositions and characteristics of the two duplex feeding systems under investigation.
