A series of surveys were carried out to study the present situation of train drivers' physical fitness, health conditions and fatigue. The subjects, 424 male train drivers, aged from 21 to 59 (average 39.3 ±10.6). The results obtained from the surveys are as follows. The data of Index of Physical Capacity (IPC) show a normal distribution with an average score of 39.6 ±14.6. As the IPC becomes higher, drivers' health conditions improve and the number of complaints caused by fatigue symptoms decreases. This study suggests that IPC scores higher than 40 of self-control index are recommended to maintain good health and suppress fatigue.
