How often passenger train drivers on duty struggle against falling asleep was grasped by implementing a questionnaire survey. Its results showed that a half of the train drivers surveyed had experienced the struggle once in one to two days. Regarding the time zone when they felt sleepiness, the results of this survey were different from those of preceding researches. Therefore, another survey was carried out to clarify the reason for the difference. As a result, it was proved that train drivers felt sleepiness for different factors in different time zones depending on their duty form.
