This paper proposes a new method to reserve train seats via Internet using a smart card as a railway ticket. Users who have their own smart card can reserve train seats using a PC or mobile phone connected to Internet without any extra equipment. The digital data of reserved seats are transferred to the station where users start their travel and written in the smart card when users go through automatic ticket gates. It is possible to reserve only trains or a rough time boarding. The final seats are determined when users pass the ticket gate.
