In 1996, a type D track directly fastened ties was developed in order to preserve the environment and reduce construction costs of new lines. In recent years, this structure is increasingly adopted for tracks newly built in urban areas. Since the fastening device for 50kgN rails was not devised when this track structure was developed, it couldn't be adopted for sections of 50kgN rail. For 50kgN rails, we have developed a new type rail fastening. Indoor examinations showed satisfactory performance for train load of conventional tracks as reported below.
