Railway Vehicle Technology Now

  The Vehicle Research Group, RTRI, is promoting researches on various subjects to improve the performance of railway vehicles in service. This paper introduces the status and several points of the development activities at the RTRI, such as the improvement of the performance of bolster-less truck for Shinkansen cars and development of semi-active suspension, high-speed curving vehicle, gauge-changeable truck, application of electric brake until the train stops, sensor-less control of induction motor, permanent magnet synchronous motor and permanent magnet eddy current brake.
