Development of Simulation Method for Overhead-Line and Pantograph System at Crossing

Takeo MORIKAWA

To estimate the quality of overhead-line and pantograph system at overhead crossing, I have developed a digital simulation method. There are two types of overhead crossing on the lines of JR. One is a crossover type where overhead lines cross each other through a crossing clamp installed with a main line contact wire, and the other is a none crossover type. In the latter case, two overhead lines do not cross over, but are kept in parallel. This resembles an air section structure. I have developed simulate method for former. For calculation in that, three models of crossing clamp are proposed: (1) both lines are connected rigidly, (2) both lines are allowed to move freely in a limited range, and (3) both lines are connected with a stiffness. Through calculations, it revealed that the connection with a stiffnes is the best. Moreover, I applied the simulation method to the investigation of the quality of current collection with overhead crossing at the speed of 160km/h - 360km/h, and found that good quality are gained up to 340km/h.
