Overhead rigid conductor lines require less maintenance when compared with catenary suspension lines. However, the running speed of trains is restricted below 90 km/h, since the contact loss characteristics of overhead rigid conductor lines are generally poor. Therefore, we examined the contact loss characteristics to fined that we can run trains at 160 km/h by smoothing the surface of rigid conductor lines.
