In snowy regions, the snow accreted under car bodies may drop during train running. The dropped snow lumps scatter the ballast on the track to damage the windowpanes of the car. We investigated the snow accretion volume under the car body which cause ballast to scatter by using digital cameras in order to examine counter measures. Consequently, the relation between the snow accretion volume the weather along the track showed that snow accretion volume grew up remarkably when the average temperature for a day is -3ºC or less and the average snowfall is 4cm/day or over.
