We discussed the possibility of the application of reinforcement inspection machine to rigid-frame railway viaducts that feature a high-density arrangement of reinforcements. We clarified that the measurements by the electromagnetic induction method were significantly affected by the numbers of axial and hoop reinforcements in laboratory tests, established a formula to correct errors and applied it to actual structures for verification. We also clarified in field tests that the measurements by the radar method were governed by the water content which was different at different points of a viaduct.
