Revision of the Structural Design Method for Over-Track Buildings

Tsuneo HASUDA, Yasushi TAKEI, Seiji YAMADA

This report introduces a new structural design method for over-track low-rise buildings without footing beams, which is based on the performance code. We investigated the structural performance of existing over-track buildings, and grasped the seismic response and load-carrying capacity of a number of building models by analytical studies. The results were reflected in the revision of "Standard for Structural Design of Over-Track Low-Rise Buildings." In the new design method, the push-over analysis of soil-structure interaction models are used, and the seismic performance of buildings without footing beams is made clear. As a result, it is possible to construct a building without footing beams both perpendicular and parallel to tracks.
