This study performed Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) for the Tokaido Shinkansen Line including an inventory analysis by two methods. One is to total CO2 emissions in all processes form construction to operation, and the other is convert costs into CO2 emissions using an input-output table and statistical traffic data. In the former method, processes were examined after devided into six categories, construction, track, electronic power, station, vehicle, and signal/communication. As a result, the CO2 emissions calculated by the two methods were approximately the same.
