This study performed an estimation of CO₂ emission from freight railway transportation. Actual electric power consumption was also measured on the Tokaido Line, and that CO₂ emission was calculated. Then, the relation between hauling load and electric power consumption was shown to figure out the CO₂ emission at the average volume of transportation.
