This report reviews the recent work that has investigated the effect of low frequency sound on human responses. In order to identify this effect, it is essential to consider inter-sensory perception processes such as hearing, vision, and vibration perception. For the most part, the present data is concerned with relatively steady low frequency sound. It is necessary to collect data on impulsive low frequency sound that is typically observed at the exit of railway tunnels. It is also useful to accommodate psychological factors such as expectation and attention.
