Deformation Characteristics of Reinforced Roadbed under a Moving Wheel Load

Yoshitsugu MOMOYA,  Etsuo SEKINE

To introduce a performance-based design method into the design of reinforced roadbed, deformation characteristics of reinforced roadbed were investigated by scale model tests. However, in a fixed point loading test to apply repeated loads on the same point of rail, deformation of roadbed concentrates on the loading point. To solve this problem, a moving wheel loading method was adopted. It was shown that the settlement of roadbed in the moving wheel loading test because larger than in the fixed point loading test. Results of FEM analysis agreed well with the results of scale model tests.
