Seismic Design of RC Pier by Dynamic Analysis

  In the seismic design code for railway structures, it is checked whether the response value obtained by a dynamic analysis satisfies the structural seismic performance level. Thus the code provides a design method of high degree-of-freedom, though structural analysis must be repeated a number of times until an appropriate sectional profile and bar arrangement are obtained. Therefore, we discussed the optimal sectional profile and bar arrangement for RC piers for different surface ground and pier heights, clarified the differences in these quantities when different methods are used for response calculation.
