The possibility to detect the defects of concrete structures was examined by the infrared thermography method using far-infrared irradiation. Examination showed that active heating of concrete surface using far-infrared irradiation was more effective than heating with a halogen lamp, etc. Furthermore, as a result of examining this method to inspect tunnel lining, satisfactory results were obtained.
