An Excess Pore Water Pressure Model for Soil Liquefaction

Ryo SAWADA

In the earthquake response analysis of the soil liquefaction, we normally perform the effective stress analysis in consideration of the effect of excess pore water pressure variations. It is generally difficult, however, to set the conditions of analysis for mathematical model to provide variations. Therefore, we proposed a method to predict changes in the said pore water pressure with simplified conditions for analysis, based on the cumulative damage concept. Laboratory tests for verification analysis by the proposed method provided satisfactory results to prove its validity.
