Stress boundaries have conventionally been used to predict ground movements during shield tunneling in the plain strain two-dimensional finite element analysis. Based on the excavated surface displacement boundary input, this study proposes a ground displacement prediction method for shield tunneling. The results of the proposed method was compared with the field measurement and evaluated. As a result, it was made clear that asymmetrical surrounding ground displacement during curve line excavation could be simulated by the proposed method at higher precision than that by the conventional method to use stress boundary inputs.
