Development of New Electric-Command Pneumatic Brake System by Individual and Continuous Control

Kiyoshi KAWAGUCHI

For the next generation railway vehicles, we need to reduce maintenance and save energy by innovating brake technologies. With these needs in the background, we developed a new brake system which can control the brake force of each axle continuously and individually, in the same way as the latest motor control. A major characteristic on the new brake system is small size, lightweight, simplicity, low cost and high performance including ABS (WSP). Thus, we have introduced the latest technology of the new system that is spreading on all new DMUs and EMUs of JR Hokkaido.
