Numerical Simulation of Pressure Changes in a Tunnel by High Speed Railways

Sanetoshi SAITO,  Masanobu IIDA,  Hiroshi KAJIYAMA

When a train runs in a tunnel at high speed, large pressure changes are generated in the tunnel. It is necessary, therefore, to predict these pressure changes accurately in planning speed-up of Shinkansen or Maglev trains. For this purpose, we have developed a computer program of a one-dimensional flow model to calculate the pressure changes and wind velocity. By using this program, we have predicted pressure changes when a Maglev train runs at 500km/h.
